Grand Theft Auto IV
Here you will find all the pages relating to the Grand Theft Auto IV section. Although most browsers will support the drop down navigation menu, this page is here for those browsers that do not support such a feature, such as various mobile browsers, and the PlayStation 3′s browser.
Grand Theft Auto IV: Assassination Missions
After the mission Truck Hustle (Phill Bell series) these Assassination Missions will become available. An anonymous employer going by the pseudonym “Fixer” will instruct you to get to the payphone in Alderney. Once you take on a contract, a stash of armour and a weapon will be waiting for you just over the fence, if you need or want it, naturally, you should already be well equiped and 100% armour at the beginning is generally more than enough to get you through all of these missions.
There are nine Assassination Missions you must complete if you wish to finish the game.
- Bailing Out for Good
- Dead End
- Derelict Target
- Hook, Line, and Sinker
- Industrial Action
- Migration Control
- R.U.B. Down
- Taken Out
- Water Hazard
They aren’t at all difficult, for the most part, simply make sure you are stocked up on RPG-7′s as well as ammo for your Sniper Rifle, and you’ll be good to go (there is a Gun Shop within 10-20 metres of the payphone). You will be attacking both static and dynamic targets, a load of RPG’s will make short work of both target types.
Once you have completed all Assassination Missions, you will receive 2% towards your game completion, and the Trophy achievement
Assassin’s Greed (
). Gotta love references to other games.
Bailing Out for Good
Your target is exiting a Police Station, simply pull up and take him out, you only need to take out the target for this job to be complete so don’t worry about the other combatants. Your choice of weapon here, you can snipe them, drive-by or simply blow them up. If they make it to their vehicle you’ll need to chase them, if you’re looking to get it done quickly then don’t let them get to that vehicle.
Reward: $3,000
Dead End
The easiest way to do this is to Taxi it to the target’s location, have your RPG ready before you take the Taxi, allowing you to exit and fire, leaving no chance for your target to make an escape. Should they escape, you will need to chase them, eventually being ambushed, so best get rid of them quickly.
Reward: $7,500
Derelict Target
When you arrive at this location, simply use your Sniper Rifle to pick off as many guys as you can, before fighting your way up the building to assassinate the last target. It is highly likely the Cops will hear your gun fire and want to play too.
Reward: $7,000
Hook, Line, and Sinker
For this one, you’ll need to commandeer a boat, then get closer to the target, but not too close. If you spook them, they’ll take off and you’ll need to make chase. Simply get close enough to be able to hit them with an RPG, or snipe them. If you’re not able to kill them first time, just chase after them, shoot at them and you’ll complete the job as soon as they’re dead/their boat explodes.
Reward: $3,000
Industrial Action
You’re going to be fighting a small, untrained army for this one. Take out as many as you can from a distance using your sniper rifle then fight your way to your targets. You will need to head to the top of the building in order to bump them all. Take your time, make use of cover when applicable, take calculated risk and make your hits count.
Reward: $7,500
Migration Control
Another easy job. Your target is above the Booth tunnel, you need to take him out before he escapes. Simply head straight for the helipad (stopping outside the blast radius), pull out your RPG-7 and fire. You can of course use other weapons, but it’s quicker and easier to just blow them up. As soon as the target is dead, Assassination Mission complete.
Reward: $3,000
R.U.B. Down
A deal is going down in Acter Industrial Park. Roll up and take out your targets, if you’re too slow, some scared bikers will take off, so you may want to take out these guys first, allowing you to simply gun down the rest. Of course, the easier way again is to simply launch a few RPG’s their way. Three is a good number to make sure you got them all, if slightly over the top.
Reward: $4,000
Taken Out
Your target is in a convoy, so first make sure your RPG is selected then make your way towards the target. Once you are in the vicinity of their convoy, you’ll need to think ahead as you’re going to ambush them to make this easier. Afterall, why make things more difficult for yourself?
The best way to do this is to follow alongside the convoy, wait for them to begin turning, then pull ahead to the next corner, jump out and hit them. If you’re not quick enough for this, then you’ll just need to look at your map and take a guess where they’re going to go next.
Reward: $3,000
Water Hazard
Your target is on a boat, well within reach of land, so pull up to their location and use either your Sniper Rifle or your RPG to take care of them. Assassino.
Reward: $3,000
Grand Theft Auto IV: Little Jacob’s Drug Deliveries
After the mission “Concrete Jungle”, you will be able to complete courier jobs for Little Jacob, who will call and say he has some work available for you.
Simply go to phone him and select “Jobs”, he will assign you one of ten jobs around the first island.
Once assigned a job (believed to be random with the exception of the final job), there will be a car sitting next to Jacob’s Homebrew Café containing the package. Nine out of ten times, it will be a junker, on the tenth delivery it will be a green and black Huntley Sport (which Little Jacob will give to you as a present), however, it is not at all any different from the other green and black Huntley Sports driving in the Homebrew Café’s local area.
There are different types of drug missions; timed, ambush and sting, they are all self-explanatory.
Timed: Just get there before the timer ticks out.
Ambush: The customers don’t want to pay, wipe them out.
Sting: The cops were watching the customers, escape a two-star wanted level.
- Beachwood City (Timed)
- Cerveza Heights Carstack (Ambush)
- East Island City Tunnel (Timed)
- Meadow Hills (Ambush)
- Meadows Park (Ambush)
- Meadows Park Festival Towers (Sting)
- Outlook Park (Ambush)
- Schottler (Timed)
- Steinway Apartment Tower (Timed)
- Willis Alley (Sting)
Note that as the drugs are in the vehicle, you will pocket them once you enter. With this knowledge, you’re able to exit the vehicle and enter whatever is available, including the car you turned up in. If Junkheaps don’t just cut it for you, bring whatever vehicle you can (a chopper, perhaps? although we haven’t tried it) and you’ll be able to deliver the package quicker than you would with the Junkheap.
Upon completion of the 10 delivery jobs, in addition to the vehicle Little Jacob gifted you (unless you destroyed or ditched it) you will receive 2% game completion and the Trophy achievement
Courier Service (
).
Grand Theft Auto IV: Brucie’s Street Races
Unlocked after the mission No.1, Brucie’s Street Races are extremely easy, or quite difficult/impossible, depending on your choice of vehicle.
It is advisable to use the Turismo showroom as your source of thoroughbred vehicles, so you don’t lose one of your rares on the way back to a parking space (it happens).
Once you have your vehicle (or even on your way to it) call up Brucie and ask him to enter you in a race. Remember not to try and elimate your opponents with bullets, you can shoot a few tyres, but too many bullets (or any deaths) and the other racers will drive away, cancelling the race.
At the beginning of each race, drive like a complete prick, spin-out other drivers, force them into obstacles, whatever you can to knock them out of the equation.
If you’re not a good driver, don’t attempt record-breaking times, take it easy and you’ll do fine. Take it too hard and you could well end up wrapped round an obstacle/flaming car with your opponents passing you.
You must come first in each of the 9 different races across Liberty City, once you have, you will gain 2% towards your 100% game completion.
- South Algonquin
- Airport Run
- Dukes Blvd
- South Broker
- Star Junction
- Road to Bohan
- North Alderney
- Elevated (Mid-Alderney)
- South Alderney
However, for the Trophy achievement, you must finish first in a total of 20 races. Once you have completed 20, you’ll receive
Genetically Superior (
).
Note that the mission No.1 is counted as your first race, so you only need to complete an additional 8 for your game completion, and 19 for your Trophy achievement.
If you are finding these races too difficult, there is a glitch that has been known since the release of the game. It is displayed in the following video. (It can’t be done during the mission No.1 as Brucie Kibbutz is sitting in the car with you and won’t answer the phone)
Grand Theft Auto IV: Most Wanted Missions
Most Wanted missions are very similar to (and can be seen as an extension of) those of Vigilante missions, however they are static; once completed, you cannot play them again (on that save file, of course).
There are 30 “Most Wanted” criminals you must eliminate, spread evenly over the three “islands”, effectively they are the Top 10 Most Wanted of each island.
Like Vigilante Missions, you must first get hold of a law enforcement vehicle. If there are none nearby, either head to a Police station, or call “911″ on your phone and select “Police”, a Police Cruiser will be dispatched and arrive shortly. Our suggestion is to take out your local 10, then move on to the next island.
When your vehicle is at a stop, access the Police Computer, then access the Most Wanted database, and choose a criminal to pursue. Try and pick one with a location nearby for efficiency.
Once you have wiped out all listed criminals and their associates, you will receive 2.5% game completion, and
Most Wanted (
).
Algonquin
| Shon Kikuchi | - | Hangs out in North Holland, Algonquin. He is in a moving sportscar, and will flee to the south when you approach. |
| Jimmy Kand | - | Hangs out in Northwood Algonquin on the second floor of a project building. He’s passed out when you find him, so you can just walk up to him and knife him. |
| Simon Nashly | - | Hangs out in the Fishmarket in Algonquin. There are six men to take out. They are spread out, and none of them attempt to flee. Stairs to the third level are located at the front and rear of the building. |
| Tommy Francovic | - | Located in Castle Garden City. When you approach he’ll flee on a motorcycle. He will circle the block at least once. Shoot him to get him off his bike, then he’ll shoot at you with a Micro SMG. Shoot him and pick up the money he drops. |
| Barry Lamora | - | Hangs out at the Colony Island Apartments. There are three of them, one is armed with a shotgun, another with a Russian assault rifle. These two will fight, the other will run. |
| Lino Friddell | - | Hangs in Middle Park. There are three targets in a narrow alley. Run them over with your car, you can get all three with one pass. |
| Juan Haimo | - | In star junciton, Algonquin. There are three targets on motorcycles. They’ll flee as soon as you approach, so either ram them when you arrive, or hit them from a distance with your RPG or sniper rifle. |
| Darren Covey | - | Purgatory, Algonquin. The suspects are in a large parking structure. They won’t try to flee, so you have a lot of freedom in deciding how to take them out. Long distance sniping, frontal assault with an assault rifle, or running them down with a car are all good options. |
| Lea Brodell | - | East Holland. You can enter the suspects’ building through a door on the north side. |
| Christov Mahonvic | - | Located in the garage at fishmarket south. Use the back door in the northwest side of the building for a superior tactical entry. |
Broker/Dukes/Bohan
| Maxwell Caughlin | - | These guys are located in a compound. One of them has an RPG, so if you choose to attack with a car keep moving. |
| Scott Guzowski | - | He and his three friends are in a park in northwest Dukes. The road to the west is a good shooting location. They are on foot and will not try to escape. |
| Antonio Rivette | - | Located in South Slopes, on the train platform. Take out all five of them. |
| Rodrigo Stavenes | - | Located in Steinway. He and his gang are in a building and there are two exits. They’ll try to run out the opposite door you enter, so you may want to park your car on one side and go in the other. |
| Fernando Tisdel | - | Fernando will try to escape in his car as soon as you get near. Arrive from the east, because he’ll flee to the west. He’ll shoot at you, so shoot back and chase him down. |
| Tyler Pickrel | - | Located at the Monoglobe in Meadows Park. He’s on foot, and will try to run away when you attack him. Use your car to chase him down. |
| Preston Pecinovsky | - | In Northern Gardens. There is only one way in or out of their area, so get out of your car and start shooting. One may try to make a break for it in one of the cars, so shoot him before he can get in (or shoot through the windsheild). |
| Alonso Goralski | - | He’s at the airport, standing next to his car with a friend. If you can’t get him a few seconds after you pull up, he’ll get in his car and drive away. Chase him and shoot up his car. |
| Bert Reker | - | Bert hangs out in the BOABO area of Broker. He and his gang are in a junkyard. The building to the across the street to the southwest is a perfect spot for sniping. There is a staircase in the back you can use to get to the top. There is also some body armor up there. |
| Freddy Paparo | - | Freddy is in a parking lot in his car. As soon as you arrive he’ll drive away. Chase after him and shoot up his car to get it to stop. Then take out him and his friends. |
Alderney
| Marty Boldenow | - | Located in Acter. This one is a standard shootout. There are several ways in, but the easiest is probably from the south. |
| Noel Katsuda | - | Located in Tutor. He’s in a compound with a main entrance on the west side, and a back entrance accessible only on foot to the southwest. Take out him and his men. |
| Rodney McEniry | - | Located in Aldernedy City. When you get close he’ll drive away. As he flees, he’ll shoot at you and drop grenades. Shoot up his car to get him to stop, then kill him. |
| Glenn Lushbaugh | - | When you pull up, he’ll try to drive away to the south. Chase him down and shoot up his car to kill him. |
| Phil Bacerra | - | When you get to the location, he and his men will try to escape in two trucks. Take one out with an RPG, or ram it and pin it against a wall. Then you can chase the other. |
| Sergi Szerbin | - | In Leftwood. Take out him and his gang. The raised area to the north is a good shooting position, or you can get them with your sniper rifle from the south. |
| Danny Hatmaker | - | Danny and his crew are at the docks. The expressway to the west is a great sniper position. If you’re going to take them out up close, know that you’ll come under fire as soon as you enter the gate. |
| Mervin Eskuchen | - | When you pull up to the location, the gang will try to flee to the north. in two large SUVs. You can ram the two vehicles then shoot them with an RPG. Or you can chase them. You can also try to block the road. |
| Frederick Harrison | - | Frederick and his gang are on the old train bridge in Tutor. They are spread out, and easy to take out one at a time. The expressway to the west makes a great sniper location. Stand on top of your car so you can better see over the rail. |
| Keenan Burdett | - | These guys are in a parking structure. There is one guy on each level, except for the top where there’s a group of them. There are soda machines on the lower levels if you’re low on health. |
Grand Theft Auto IV: Flying Rats
Grand Theft Auto IV’s Flying Rats (a.k.a Rats With Wings) put a twist on collections when compared with other titles. Rather than just running into the item to “collect” it, you must shoot them or blow them up. All weapons are equal, but some weapons are more equal than others, so head to your favourite Ammu-nation Gun Shop to re-stock whatever you need before you set out to collect these 200 flying rats.
Upon completion of this collection, you will receive 2.5% game completion, the Trophy achievement
Endangered Species (
), and you will have lost your sanity.
You may also want to have open this map, so you can mark them off as you go along. 2048×1296 | 3564×2256

Grand Theft Auto IV: Random Characters
Random Characters provide bonus missions for you to complete, however not all of them are required for 100% game completion. To receive your 5% for this section, you will need to complete the random characters listed below with the colour blue. We have also provided a map to show you the location of every random character. For those required for 100% completion, if they have a mini-series (multiple missions) then every mission in their line must be completed.
When you are near an unlocked Random Character, a blue “friend” icon will appear on your mini-map, if you are walking near them, your camera will zoom into their location.
Some characters appear only at night-time, if you turn up and they’re not there (but you have done the mission that unlocks them, if applicable, and you haven’t killed them previously) come back later.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Brucie’s Exotic Exports
After Roman’s “Logging On” mission, Brucie will email you the details of a car he wants boosted.
Simply check your emails at a TW@ internet cafe (or the laptop in your safehouse, if unlocked) and reply positively, the reason being that many have reported problems completing the mission after replying negatively, while others say they have, just stick with positive to be safe.
After replying, a GPS marker should appear on your radar. Simply head to the location and take posession of the vehicle, once it’s in your hands, drive back to Brucie’s lock-up.
There isn’t really that much resistance when stealing the cars, but make sure you have full health and armour before you start this, beginning with 100% health and 100% armour should be enough to get you through the 10 boosts.
Almost all of the vehicles are located on the first island so it’s not too far to drive. As you’d probably expect, the vehicles are valued based on the condition of the car upon delivery, however, there is a Pay’n'Spray near-by should you turn up with your car looking like Memphis Raines’ “Unicorn” in Gone in 60 Seconds and wish to maximise your profit, however considering that the state of the economy in this game is similar to III’s (you can’t really buy anything), I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
After delivering a car, check your emails again (there’s a TW@ not too far from Brucie’s garage) there should be a new one in there, however sometimes you might have to wait a while, it seems to vary for some people.
Once you’ve done all 10, Brucie will pass your number onto his mate Stevie, unlocking Stevie’s Car Boosting (Text Message Cars). You will also be awarded with 2% game completion and
Order Fulfilled (10
).
Grand Theft Auto IV: Friend Activities
There are some cool things to do around Liberty City, if you’re after 100% game completion there are some specifics you’re going to have to follow. This is for many people, the last thing they do before receiving their 100%.
You have to take out some of your friends to all the places listed, if you think you’ve done them all, or are not sure what you’re missing, your best bet is to go through them one-by-one until you get it. It has been reported by some that you must win each of the competitive activities, so keep that in mind while you work your way through the list. You also have to unlock each of these three friends’ special abilities, which you will most likely do along the way. Also note that should a friend call you whilst you are unavailable, don’t reject them, instead, accept the invitation then call them back and select “Cancel Plans”, this way, your friends’ ‘like’ percentage won’t suffer because you’re busy doing something.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Vigilante Missions
Grand Theft Auto IV saw a change to the Vigilante system of previous titles. There are no tanks in IV (with the exception of The Ballad of Gay Tony, of course) so you won’t simply be driving around with every vehicle that touches you exploding instantly. The Most Wanted side missions can also be seen as an extension to this new system.
However, these new Vigilante Missions are much easier than the previous system.
They become available after “Crime and Punishment” in Faustin’s mission line, simply get hold of a Police vehicle, once inside access the Police computer and select “View Current Crimes”. If there are no Police vehicles at your location, either head to a Police station or simply dial “911″ on your phone (the emergency number for the United States, like “999″ for the United Kingdom or “000″ for Australia) and select Police, a Police Cruiser will turn up soon after.
There are three types of crimes you can pursue:
- Criminal on foot
- Stolen vehicle
- Gang activity
Criminal on foot is the easiest and quickest, mostly all you’re going to have to do is simply run over them, if you miss for whatever reason, pump a few rounds into them and off you go to the next guy. If you are looking to hit these as quickly as possible you should choose this option. If the option isn’t available, simply back-out and access “View Current Crimes” again, this will refresh the list of available crimes.
Stolen vehicle will pit you up against a car full of dudes that will shoot at you, not too difficult but the chase may drag out a bit, it’s entirely possible your vehicle will suffer too much damage before you’re able to take them all out.
Gang activity will lead you to a group of “gangsters”, again it isn’t that difficult however they can take you down pretty quickly if you just run in there guns blazing (unless you get lucky).
Once you have selected a crime, your GPS will update to a location nearby and a timer will appear at the top-right corner indicating how long you have left to get to the scene of the crime before the criminal escapes. Once there, it will disappear.
Upon completion of a Vigilante Mission, you will be free to pursue whatever activity you wish, if your car is damaged and you want to continue, it is advisable to locate another Police vehicle before continuing, otherwise you may find youself with a car on fire, an empty road and so no way to get to your target but attempting to run there.
Once you have completed 20 Vigilante Missions you will receive 2.5% towards your game completion, and
Clean The Mean Streets (
).
